Alyssa's been beautiful her whole life

I think Alyssa Milano is absolutely gorgeous. I always thought she was really pretty on Who's the Boss and now she's grown up to be a beautiful woman. A far cry from other 80's actresses that have grown up to be complete woofers.

May I call your attention to the two episodes when she turned into a mermaid?
Episodes 5.01 and 5.02 (A Mermaid's Tale/Tail?) were the beginning of the seasons when the "girls" became producers, and a lot of restrictions apparently were removed on the show.

Season 5 started with that 2-part story, and I have wondered how it was permitted on TV... Alyssa's mermaid costume has about half the number of "scales" Jamie Pressley's mermaid has.
Also, ALL the 'sisters' had tattoos that became uncovered in season 5. Case in point, Alyssa's "Phoebe" and "Piper" both have a wrist tattoo, and those were previously under some sort of wrist covering until this season. For reasons I do not know, Rose McGowan wore some sort of body makeup/concealer over her large tattoos for a couple seasons more, but the lighting typically was strong enough that the tattoo could be seen, but was not clearly visible, just like Alyssa's in previous seasons.
It is *possible* the season opened with this 2-part story because the ratings were down...

Oh man did I have the biggest crush on her when I was younger. Yea she's still an incredible smokin' hottie (and I'll admit I still have a crush when she pops up on the tube in fact I bet you when we're all old we'll still be remarking on how she's a hot old bird) but at that time she was the first celebrity female that I really began to "take notice" (okay, obsess over) of when my body started going through those adolescent changes. My best friend's main obsession was (and still is) Phoebe Cates; completely understandable (who can forget the pool scene), but at that age I just couldn't get Alyssa out of my head for a second.
Although I'm sure the internet has changed/made available allot of things, I think allot of teen boys sit through tv shows that they would otherwise never watch if it weren't for some smokin' babe being featured.

She is beautiful. I remember when I was younger and Who's the boss? was on, all my friends and I wished we were Samantha Micelli. We friggen dressed like her, did ur hair like her. She was definatly a role model for us back then.

Since baby, no sleep for mommy!

Allyssa not only is still beautiful but she still has been able to maintain a career.

reply

Yes, she's always been beautiful! She never even had that weird-looking awkward stage as a preteen/teenager that so many of us had...no fair! :-)

Did you not see her when she was going through what she called her "Conan" phase? I seem to remember she gained some weight, then got strong and lean. She also didn't exactly go through akward big growth spurts, because she is not that tall, and never has been.

I think that was around the time she went to her much shorter haircuts around seasons 6 and 7 or so. I do NOT know if that was motivated in any way by having a movie she was in as Arnold Swartzeneger's daughter, (COMMANDO), but I do believe she was younger then.

She also did a "karate movie" later on, and I suppose she started getting stronger, and it showed in some photo shoots with her shorter hair. She also probably lost weight too during that period, because she was quite photogenic during the story arc in CHARMED when "PIPER" was transformed into a Valkyrie, while Leo was imprisoned there by "Chris", and the other two were also in those costumes.

I posted a comment mentioning what Alyssa said about herself having a "Conan phase" during an interview, and mentioned a "karate movie", (Double Dragon(1994), followed by EMBRACE OF THE VAMPIRE(1995) once she was "legal"), with WTB ending in 1992. According to her IMDB birthday, she would have been about 19 or 20 when that last season (8) was taped/filmed, so maybe she just delayed her weird-looking stage a bit, (maybe it was in her contract).
(BTW, very recently the "real reason" Shannon D. got booted from her series was revealed as having cut her hair, contrary to her contract, and that disrupted reshoots for portions of several episodes by causing continuity problems. It was rumored to have been due to her partying and "diva" behavior, but it was her haircut instead! Or, maybe "all of the above"...)

I did remember wondering about her in at least one episode, (her haircut and frumpy '40s and '50s look), and the CW network broadcast episode 8.02 the other day, and that was the very episode that made me wonder most. That is the episode when Angela and Tony ended up rolling the Jaguar into a lake, after Angela had turned down all of Tony's marriage proposals. Mona talked with Angela and she realized she was scared to accept, and maybe ruin a wonderful friendship, so she made up for it by proposing to Tony instead, and he played "hard to get" with the same reasons she used in refusing him, eventually accepting.

Toward the end of the episode, the whole "gang" was at the lake with the Jaguar still in the water; the police called the family, and a TV news reporter was there too. Sam (Alyssa) had her hair cut pretty short, (but not a "pixie cut", IMO, more like Dorothy Hamill the figure skater, but maybe shorter), wearing bluejeans and a white shirt, tied at the waist, not tucked. Why do I mention the shirt? It buttoned left-over-right, the way a man's shirt does. And she appeared to be more muscular in that episode as well, with the sleeves of that shirt cut off.

Thinking about it now, that outfit resembled the famous "Rosie The Riveter" look, but instead with a man's white shirt, and a different colored bandana on her head.

As stray thoughts, in season one of the TV series CASTLE, Detective Kate Beckett (Stanna Katic) sometimes wore blouses/shirts that buttoned left-over-right, but I have not noticed that since season one. I wondered if that was supposed to make her seem "butch", and the writers changed their mind, or had made their point and moved on... OR, if for "artistic reasons", some of the scenes were reversed; Det. Beckett mostly appears wearing turtlenecks since then. Did that happen in WTB? I really wish there was a DVD set available so it would be easy to check.

Yeah, she never had an awkward period, even as a teen.

reply

Alyssa is really gorgeous!

reply

IMHO, that "akward period" typically coincides with big growth spurts, and she never got those, because she isn't that tall even now... 5' 2" or 5' 3" or so, without looking up her bio...

As an example, Sigourney Weaver, (GHOST BUSTERS, WORKING GIRL, ALIEN series, and many other movies) seems at least slightly akward in them, but she is listed as 5" 11 3/4" tall, essentially six feet tall.
See the correlation?

reply

yeah she's lovely!

reply

I agree 1000%

reply

I agree, Alyssa has always been cute and gorgeous :) I wish I looked half that good.

You have to stop the Q-Tip when there's resistance!

reply

And if you don't stop the Q-Tip, you can see what happens in the HBO series GIRLS.
NOTE: That series **might be** too much for a lot of people... it is especially heavy on unashamed sex, and has a storyline of mental illness for the main character, (at least through the end of season 2 when it ends on that topic).

Milano also signed on as host and judge during season three of Project Runway: All Stars.
