Christianity in Planet Arus

In episode 10 Secret of the White Lion, Princess Allura visits her mother's tomb. There is something that clearly looks like a Christian cross bent and angled back. This takes place in the 25th century on Planet Arus where, as far I know, is not an Earth colony.

I also thought that was strange given that this was animated in Japan where Christianity is a minority.

Did Christianity spread to the Diamond Galaxy? Or perhaps it is possible that the Queen was an Earth Human who was a Christian and married King Alfor on planet Arus.

It's also a Japanese cartoon filled with Caucasian characters, so I suppose using Christian iconography isn't that odd. And I suspect the reason they use it is because it's so widely associated with crypts, tombs, graveyards and royalty thanks to the prevalence of Western culture, and thus it acts as a bit of shorthand to subconsciously connect with viewers.

When Coran makes the sign of the cross, what do you think Fluke Skywalker?

It's not uncommon for Japanese animators to incorporate elements of a myriad of religions for storytelling purposes. An entire season of Sailor Moon centered on the search for the Messiah and the Holy Grail - both concepts typically associated with Judeo-Christianity, but used for story telling purposes here. I remember reading a book on Sailor Moon that said, to the majority of the Japanese population, Christianity and other religions are regarded as mythical and ornamental; hence, it's not uncommon to see elements of mainstream religions used in their art without any real relevance.
