When did V The Final Battle come out?

I know the original V miniseries came out in the spring of 1983. VTFB came out in 1984. When was it? And was VTFB part of the plans all along? Did they create V the original with the anticipation of it having the final battle come out a year later? Just looking for a little background on the whole deal.

Was VTFB as big a hit at the time as the original?

Not really sure. I do know that the original director was supposed to be involved but for one reason or another he didn't resulting in a mediocre "Final Battle".

Here's an idea. Try looking at the board name. Hmmm... 1984 right in the title.

Did you perhaps mean "duh"? Way to go, now you look moronic. Nice Return of the Living Dead quote, sorta.

They sort of HAD to conclude what wasn't conclued in the original V Miniseries. The first V ended in a cliffhanger.

Thanks. So VTFB was released a full year later. I remember when both V series were on TV but I was merely 9 and 10 years old. I sure loved them though.

I doubt it. Kenneth Johnson's input and direction in "V" is tightly and intelligently written. A few plot holes exist, but they're easily forgivable.

TFB is a collection of action-oriented set pieces intermixed with soap opera. There are also numerous plot holes that one could drive a mothership though. (in pt 1 alone, it's way too easy to duplicate alien technology, the visitors found the counterfitter too quickly too, surely Diana wouldn't be so stupid to convert a man who just slammed Christine Walsh to her face and then show him off to her...) Then add in the sensationalism of the Star Child being the saving grace and voila: Garbage.

TFB isn't exactly bad (it is enjoyable), but it lacks the intellect and shrewdness the original miniseries had.

I agree, TFB was enjoyable and as a kid, I actually liked it better (way better action, etc.) It was still very, very good. But now that I'm older, I enjoy the original series much better. VFB, with the whole star child thing, was just dumb. But there were many parts I liked, including the music. I remembered that music for years and finally got to watch VFB a couple years ago.
