Does anyone know the difference between the golden helmet soldiers and the black helmeted ones?
I thought the gold might have been military police as they are more lightly armed but black armoured soldiers seemed to do this job in the early eposiodes?
I think you're right. The ones in gold helmets also only carry pistols, whereas the ones in the black/armored uniforms carry the rifles.

I always took it to mean the gold helmet troopers were the Visitor "State Security" troops like for example the Nazi's SS troops. Steven, Brian and Captain Jake seemed to fall I to such a catagory. Steven always had this Hollywood-segue Gestapo or KGB fanatic air about him
The black more armored and armed 'Shocktroopers' struck me more as the Visitors regular army...much like in line with Johnson's initial fascist/nazi metaphor would make the black armored soldiers the Wehrmacht to the gold helmeted SS
