SUCKED!

This miniseries sucked in almost every way. The two notable exceptions were the uber cool main title music and Ham Tyler. Everything else was awful. I was on the border of liking or disliking it until that rediculus, stupid, awful, crappy, poop-covered, turd of an ending. They mashed 2001 with Star Trek: The Motion Picture with Poltergeist to make that steamy pile. All the times where Diana could have just been shot, or where they were battling the visitors in corridors for a long time then someone thought to throw some red dust at them, which killed them instantly. Why did they not do that earlier. And the resistance changed bases about 4 times. The reason to move out of the base from the first V made sense, then they went to some movie farm (uh...ok, convenient backlot location) then in the next episode they were mysteriously in a jail place, then they moved to a lighthouse for no reason at all. The series just made no sense most of the time.

They kept moving around so that they wouldn't be found. It's common practise with gerillas and underground movements. And the reason they didn't use the red dust earlier was because they hadn't had time to disperse it into the ventilation system yet.

But yeah, I agree. I don't think The Final Battle sucked, but it was definately inferior to the original mini series.

And yes: that final scene with the star child blew big time. Kenneth Johnson's proposed ending had Martin sacrifysing himself by pilotinh the ship away from Earth. After he left the project, his script was rewritten which resulted in this lame ending that doesn't even make any sense IMO.

I understand why they moved around a lot, the show just didn't tell us that they moved until they went back to their base, which was always a different one.

Everytime a resitance member was captured, (Julie after the TV incident, Mike after the prisoner exchange, The priest whatever he was thinking) they had to move.

If you were 10 years old like I was when this was first shown and you didn't know what the special effects of today are like, which we didn't, it was a great miniseries. I enjoy it now for just the nostalgia value, everything looks like it did when I was a kid. The cars & houses etc. Still a cool show and it makes me think the Independence Day took elements of this show into it.

Only what looked good, ID hasn't any of the depth that V or V:TFB had - which is saying something since TFB had virtually none compared to V!
