Mike-for-Sean exchange

It made no sense to me that they would give up Mike just to get his son back. Mike was one of the leaders of the resistance and way too valuable to sacrifice. Also, although resistance fighters were hiding out nearby, how would they be sure the visitors wouldn't kill Mike, Julie and Ham right there and then?

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

And the Visitors are there for food, in force, would they be so honorable, so why they didn't trick the resistance or capture the lot of them in ambush since more of the Visitors exist, especially with all the local resistance leaders there including two from a larger network... much meat to convert and get information from, UGH!!!!! Even chance #2 for Julie since she had on the cusp of cracking the first time around. The 84 mini had its moments of greatness but then they would do something just as stupid...

It's frustrating that it was such a great show, yet the Visitors with all their numbers and advanced tech did simple, limited human-like things like the honorable secret prisoner exchange. It was just a TV show of course, but we were dealing with advanced aliens and so it does become frustrating. I guess it did have to stay grounded in scenes which were manageable within a TV budget and able to prolong the story. Still love it all the same.

From Donovan’s point of view, it wasn’t about ‘giving up Mike’ - but rather a father wanting his son safe.

This tone would of course change alittle later down the line, when it became clear that Shaun had been ‘converted’ - & thus became a commodity to deceive the Visitors about their plans on how they would release the ‘red dust.’ *
