Robin eating out of refrigerator

Can someone explain to me exactly, what that was that Robin was eating out of the fridge at the resistance hideout. She got up for a midnight snack and started chowing down on what looked like raw liver or something. Why would she do that?

I have never really heard any explanation for this oddball scene.

My guess was it was because of the alien DNA she was carrying in her pregnant body, giving her the strange reptilian appetite of the visitors, since they didn't eat cooked meat.

In retrospect, it could be an early sign that the starchild was affecting her mom. We all have read and heard about having cravings... so it's just as possible that Robin, knowing what the Visitors look like, could be eating raw meat out of self-inflicted psychological response to what she had seen. Especially as she had started to see her skin turn green and scaly for absolutely no reason (sci-fi turned idle fantasy), that would be the only clue that the starchild - while forming - was affecting Robin. I can't believe there's any coherence, and if there is it then makes a little more sense how the baby Elizabeth develops - at least up until the magical ending... But I think the writers were playing up the lizard trope for shock value as well, if not the main reason and any greater depth was coincidence.

It was meant to show a pregnancy-craving for raw meat.
Even though actual mothers are rumored to eat such things as well, this dramatic ravenous scene was meant to show how the alien baby was controlling/influencing Robin.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Fiatlux is exactly right. After I had my appendix taken out, I had an incredible craving for steak, something I never ate regularly before. But somehow, my body knew I needed the protein. It was a little weird for me. In the same context, Robin's body knew the fetus needed raw meat or liver or whatever it was so she ate it. I thought the scene was very effective and a good build up to the birth.
