Rumoured Return?

I heard that spitting image may make a return with a new series, plus maybe some kind of dvd release

reply

Lets hope if they do they get the original writers back.

reply

I hear on Mediaguardian that it was coming back. I think it has now stalled (expense was a major factor with making the puppets again).

reply

Well, some of the puppets already exist, Dubya & Stallone were made for the French version - Les Guignons des infos.

reply

Yep. Its coming back soon on ITV1 in the UK I believe.

reply

Okay maybe not.

The Best Of Spitting Image's narration just said "There are no plans for it to return".

SO that's that settled then.

reply

Just watched a programme on ITV1 about Spitting Image and ITS NOT coming back, which is a shame

reply

Yeah, I just said that, didnt I?

reply

I never refreshed before I posted, but why did you have to mentioned it, does it matter!!!!

reply

I cannot belive it, the ITV are mad. personaly i would buy every series and there is got to be about 20-30, if one day they eventualy do finnaly decide to release it. i will be the first in line to buy the entire set, this series was't just for the older generation. as at the time i was about 7-8 and i use to watch it, altho mum use to stop me from watching in till i was about 12. i still use to sneek in the odd eppisode here and there ( Had a portable TV), anyway i think someone should star a bring it back petition. or a website suggesting that the dig the old fottage out and stick it on dvd.

reply

My parents wouldn't let me watch this when I was a kid (Ive never forgiven them) but I used to sneak the odd view of it here and there over the years. Absolutely fantastic, and having seen the aforementioned prog above, it seems that everyone who worked on it still holds it in high affection.

The satire really was biting, celebrities today have got it easy, there is only Avid Merrion in a rubber mask to deal with.

Surely Spitting Image would still have huge appeal today, this would be an absolute winner for ITV, and for a network with absolutely no other redeeming features.

Come on ITV, do a christmas special first, then take it from there....

Marge, is Lisa at Camp Granada?

reply

If it does come back on ITV, it would be the only good thing on that channel lately, I thought I'd point that out because Love Island is coming back soon(jesus shoot me now!). I hope they do bring it back because they'd have a field day with one half of the celebrities now.

reply

As much as I would love it to come back, the documentary about it said that there was no chance it'll will be returning. But it would be great fun if it did return.

reply

i bealeve that they did a new sreatch
with new ant and deck puppets,

reply

Pity its not on now. I'd love to see what they would do to R.Murdoch and R.Brooks and A.Coulson.

reply

It won't come back because Roger Law is a fool who sold all the puppets and says he won't let anyone else do it,which quite frankly is stupid. Also he says it would cost too much money.

reply

It did cost too much money, which is a big factor.

The puppets got sold because they deteriorate over time and therefore they made money out of it.

Law has emigrated to Australia.

Its that man again!!
