It was done in the form of a special does anyone know where i can find it?

There were several specials done but the US Execs and audiences didn't get it so the US version never went ahead.
Try looking for these titles on you tube:
Down And Out In The White House
The Spitting Image 1987 Movie Awards
The Ronnie And Nancy Show
Bumbledown - The Life and Times of Ronald Reagan
The Sound Of Maggie

I recorded the 1987 Oscar special on VHS when it aired and I was 13.
Been watching it ever since. As a kid, sometimes multiple times a day.
About 10 years ago I converted the VHS to DVD to keep it longer.
One of the funniest goddamned things I've EVER seen.
