Gordon Jackson

Which one was Prof. Bramston......Piet the interperter ?

reply

The interpreter was Alex Heyns. Gordon Jackson was the professor with the Scottish accent in the first episode who described the legend that was Shaka to Queen Victoria.

Thanks for your response. I never saw a scene with Queen Victoria. Maybe it was cut out of the version I saw aired on TBS. Was it before the meeting with the King ?

reply

The opening scenes of the very first episode were of King Chetswayo being introduced to Queen Victoria in a bid to get his kingdom back from colonial rule. The scenes with Queen Victoria were the first 8 minutes before the title song kicks in. (Amazon video version)
There are various versions floating around but if I remember correctly they all start the same way,any cuts are further into the series.

Just saw it on youtube.......Thanks

You're welcome. Glad that you were able to see it. Shaka Zulu was, is, a brilliant series. Grew up not far from where they filmed it and watching it always makes me think of home.

reply

Yes... It was a brilliant production. I always remember Gordon Jackson's role in "The Great Escape".
