This series deserves a Remake

This was one of the most popular shows I watched growing up in 1980s. The music is still haunting and the Zulu warriors were always impressive. I'm surprised the this series was not remade into a movie or another TV series.

South African film and TV is ripe for taking more historical characters and retelling their life stories. In China they do this all the time and the population never gets enough of it. We've seen the quality of movie making increase with District 9 and so on. South Africa doesn't have a lack of stories, in fact we have a fascinating history with the interplay of cultures.

Some ideas for TV series:
1. Life of Gandhi in South Africa
2. Anglo Boer War
3. Cecil Rhodes and how he founded DeBeers
4. Khoisan stories
5. District 6 in Cape Town

Anyway there's many great stories to be told. They can start by updating Shaka Zulu's life story.

2. Anglo Boer War

As a matter of fact, I can't think of any good films set about the Boer Wars, or with the Boer Wars as a backdrop (other than being mentioned in passing). I'm sure there would be some interest in them outside of South Africa, at least in the UK.

Breaker Morant was about the Boer war and I think Zulu was Boer War as well.

Since the rights have remained with me, I am organising a remake that will create an even more epic sage. From 1787 to 1948.
