Most heartbreaking storylines

What were the most heartbreaking storylines Santa Barbara had to offer?

reply

The most heartbreaking story in my opinion is when Cruz and Eden thought that their baby Adrianna was dead. I can not think of anything worse that could happen to parents. The memorial service for the baby made me cry and I knew that she wasn't really dead. The pain that they felt was palpable. Wonderful performances by Marcy Walker and A Martinez.

Both Cruz and Eden cried during that storyline, right?

Did the Utah/paralysis storyline in 1987 upset you emotionally, Chainsaw_Heidi? After all, poor Cruz mistakenly thought Eden was dead.

reply

Yes. Cruz cried and got angry which I think is a natural reaction to such intense pain. Eden tried to stay strong but she barely made it through the service. When she cries you really feel it. It is painful to look at.

That was also a very heart wrenching storyline too. The scenes between Kelly and Cruz and C.C. and Cruz when they thought Eden was dead were truly hard to take. Robin Wright could cry as well as Marcy Walker. By the way do you know if they remained friends after Santa Barbara. I have always wondered if after her success in film if she ever went back to her old stomping grounds and friends.

When Eden could walk with a cane, did it still break your heart that she couldn't walk all by herself, Chainsaw_Heidi? Do you think it was a bad idea for Eden to once again become unable to walk shortly afterwards?

I have been particularly upset by the storyline where a scumbag working for Kirk Cranston shot Eden up with meth! Eden fell into a coma and almost died! Are you glad that Eden didn't become a drug addict, Chainsaw_Heidi?

What did you think of the Peter Flint character? Did you dislike him right from the beginning? Remember when Peter kidnapped poor Eden and tried to rape her?

The most heart wrenching storyline for me is the Utah one,it is also the only storyline I could easily relate to.Daytime actors are so vastly underrated it hurts me to even think about it.A Martinez is for me by far the best dramatic actor I have ever seen, better than all the great ones like Brando,Pacino,Olivier put together not to mention some big stars of the stage.Am I exaggerating?I don't believe so.

How come you could particularly relate to the Utah storyline, evangr03? Was it because paralysis was involved?

reply

I once had the misconception that I lost a beloved one for good and after several months of emotional pain and heartache she finally contacted me and explained what happened.I never thought of paralysis until you mentioned it,yes that could be it too.I have a sister who is a born quadriplegic, she used to be a big fan of the show, both of my sisters were big fans.I have a close friend who looks a lot like a young A Martinez but that is irrelevant I guess.

That's sad! I have an aunt who went to Cornell University with Christopher Reeve. Going back to SB, it breaks my heart that poor Eden didn't have full use of her legs for so long in 1987! She had partially regained her ability to walk in Utah thanks to the volatile Cain, but shortly after she returned to Santa Barbara, terrible stuff happened that made her lose the use of her legs all over again! Why did the show's writers have to give the paralysis situation a false ending? Remember how much emotional agony Eden was in because she couldn't walk?

reply

Please don't feel sad about my sister, she feels equal to the rest of us walking disasters! :).As for Eden not walking for so long in 1987 it gave me the blues too at the time but now I can only think that this situation only served the plot of this particular storyline.I wish I could see the end of it some day online because I don't rememeber much after all this time.I remember the emotional agony very clear though.
