I don'r care if it takes 1,000 DVD SETS. I WANT THEM ALL NOW.
For what it's worth the General Hospital series that is on DVD in Europe is a UK soap that had the same name but is a completely different show.
It's a shame that classic soaps are just gathering dust in a vault somewhere instead of being rerun or available on DVD or downloads.
There are about 15 reasons soaps aren't released as box sets. In Santa Barbara's case, it comes down to economics. The studio knows that not enough people will pay for something that they wouldn't even watch for free. Frustrating but understandable.

Sony holds domestic rights, Fox the international ones. Actually there is a facebookpage dedicated to getting the show on dvd now and they are growing fast. So far 1200 have signed up. Maybe not 2137 episodes will be released, but atleast a box to see how it goes.
The problem with releasing daytime soap operas on DVD is simply that there are way too many episodes. What we should be aiming for is these series to be released online or on streaming. It would be great to give people a chance to see episodes they haven't seen in many years, episodes that they missed the first time around, and maybe even pull in new viewers.
