Sophia killed Channing Jr?

I only remember bits and pieces of the show. I was watching scenes on YouTube there was a clip where Sophia says she killed Channing Jr? Can somebody clue me in as to why she would kill her own son?

No, she did kill him. She thought it was Lionel Lockridge she was shooting. And he was not her son, Minx Lockridge switched the babies and Brick Wallace was her real son.

They didn't need 2137 episodes for that conclusion, the fact that it was Sophia that killed Channing was discovered around the 200th episode.

And Sophia didn't go to the Jail in the end, it was decided not to put her to trial.

As best as I can recall, Sophia unloaded the gun prior to the shooting but when C.C. checked the desk drawer and discovered the empty gun-- he reloaded it. Sophia meant to only scare Lionel and pulled the trigger believing it to be empty. So the shooting of Channing was completely accidental on both counts.
