Great memories, but some seem a little whimsical and 'safe', now?

Check out the two-parter The Swords Of Wayland and The Greatest Enemy, Robin's death in Greatest Enemy was anything but safe and a little upsetting for kids to watch their hero die at Saturday teatime! It was expertly done though. The show was never as good after the departure of Michael Praed.

Nothings forgotten. ๐Ÿน

Thanks, I'm gonna watch it later, I found it with an intro on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5L8pHKP-vv4

Not a great film, but I can really see the influence it had on Excalibur as well as Robin of Sherwood!

The Old Man played by John Young!

Just watched first couple of episodes.

Quality show. Used to love this as a kid but remembered little of it.

It's pretty layered stuff compared with some versions what with the occult and the mysterious stag man elements.

Would be great to see this particular story remade with today's TV production qualities but alas I don't think a tale of a band of white dudes (obese ones not withstanding) saving a damsel in distress is going to fly these days...

I loved it as a kid too, I think itโ€™s far better than Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

The Greatest Enemy episode is particularly memorable. ๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿน

I take it that's the episode he dies in? Will get on to that one eventually but I seem to remember it having some sort of Dr Who style regeneration into the new Robin Hood...

Yep, it was a brave move rather than do a straightforward recast. The second Robin is the noble one, whilst the first is a peasant. In most movies they seem to go with Robin being of noble birth but I think it works just as well with Robin Hood being a commoner.
