The Prophecy - death of King Richard?

In this great episode, I was wondering why news of King Richard's death at Chalus (he actually took ten days to die through a gangrenous wound) didn't reach Prince John, Bishop Hugo etc until after Sir Richard sails for Normandy?

It only took a couple of days to get news across the Channel, so surely the Villagers and outlaws (perhaps via their catives?) would have known very soon after Richard was severely wounded, and feverish?

Actually, messages at that time could take weeks for many reasons, weather, bandits, other stops along the way, etc. Another possibility is that the messenger went to London, expecting to find Prince John there and then had to track him down in Nottingham.

Indeed.
