When I was a boy Robin of Sherwood was early evening family viewing. Yet looking back on some episodes you wonder how they got away with some of the stuff that the show. The Swords of Weyland features Devil worshipping witches disguised as nuns with the Devil himself turning up, their brain washed servants stabbing themselves to death and Will Scarlett kills a spy in cold blood. Nowadays that would be shown after the watershed.

Satanic worship at tea time, what’s not to like? I bet Mary Whitehouse was mad with fury at this two parter!

Rula Lenska was particularly good as Morgwyn of Ravenscar, I loved the armour of the devil’s riders, and the creepy music that accompanied them, amazing to think that this was put out for family viewing! Great story, great show!
