I LOVED THIS SHOW AS A KID, BUT WHATS IT LIKE WATCHING IT NOW?

SOME SHOWS AGE WELL....OTHERS AREN'T AS YOU AS YOU REMEMBERED.

WHATS THIS ONE LIKE WATCHING IT OVER TWENTY YEARS LATER?

reply

I still enjoy this show just as much as when I was younger. This is a show for kids true, but I guess if one enjoys something so much as a kid, it sort of makes them want to keep watching even when they get older. I will never get too old to stop enjoy PB.

What are the purposes of signatures!!..

I grew up with Punky Brewster, i loved the show as a kid, i am the same age as Soleil,(in fact she 2 months and 23 days older than me), i have introduced my four kids to punky and they have all fell in love with her as much as i did as a child. She portrays loyalty, friendship, and trust and i think thats important in any show, and in a persons soul.

I saw first 2 seasons b4 NBC cut it- at 4 and 5 I LIVED for Punky. If we were doing something the night it was on- I HAD to watch it. (even got the PB sneakers and dressed as her for school. I was so young- as I watch eps on You tube- not as I remember at all!

I always enjoyed watching Punky Brewster, that is one thing that will never change.

Punky has actually aged pretty well. There are bits that are clunky, but the show remains pretty much the way it always was. It's just as fun watching Soleil now as it was then. The really funny bits are still funny. Some whole episodes really stand out (the Slime Wars in Space one, for example). Other bits that were sappy then are still sappy, and get a chuckle now (for me it's the "Brandon wake up!" scene).

Unlike Small Wonder, which has definitely aged, Punky makes me wish there was more solid entertainment like this for kids. Though season two seemed really overloaded with "issues" episodes. Some of the references to the mid-1980s are funny, especially the whole DeBarge episode. But the show remains relatively timeless. Get those DVDs!

I am watching the first episodes right now and I'm all choked up. I loved this show when I was young (I'm three years older than Soleil). I grabbed a DVD for my youngest (now 9) and we're watching together. My husband was never a fan, but he's butting out and letting us girls watch.

My youngest and I are loving the show together. She even loves the opening song which grates on my nerves. I had to get the DVD as my youngest always wears mismatched socks, gloves and anything else she can find. She's my little Punky and is falling in love with the show I fell in love with when I was only a little older than she is now.

Never regret the things you've done, only the things you've dared not do.

I was a fan as a kid and still love the show but I have to say I prefer the first two seasons to the last.

"Living our maggot lives, dreaming of becoming flies."

It's incredibly heartfelt and brought tears to my eyes at one point. A beautiful, sentimental show that is the true definition of a family show.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

A few years ago I got season 1 on DVD thinking my kids would like it. I enjoyed the show as much as them. I had more fun though just seeing something from my childhood. The story lines seemed a little silly to me but I didn't care. I guess it depends on who you are. I even enjoyed watching old cartoons from my childhood again.

I still like it a lot.
