Awesome, awesome, awesome

I loved this show. It combined the twin loves of all small boys from the 80s - cars & robots. If they had thrown in Princess Leia as well it would have been unstoppable!

Now I know technically they werent robots, but they could kinda transform, and thats close enough for me, or it was when i was 5!

This would be ripe for a computer game now I reckon, give it a GTA makeover and you got a winner!

Marge, is Lisa at Camp Granada?

Hmm, I always thought Tess was way better looking than Princess Leia.

I was 3+1/2 when I saw Return of the Jedi in the cinema, still remember it vividly! And one thing that made an impression on me was Leia in the gold bikini, with the choke chain (I was mature for my age!).

Tess wasn't bad tho I'll give you that, no Jessica Rabbit tho, or Lois from Family Guy, but thats a side issue.

Am I right in saying that Pole Position was originally French? That seems strange because it has a real Japanese look about it, think Belle + Sebastian (the anime, not the live action malarkey), Battle of the Planets etc...

BTW which car was your favourite, the Mustang-a-like or the futuristic Lambo-Ferrari combo?

When I was a kid I liked the futuristic one (wow, its so 1999!), but now I guess i kinda like the retro muscle car.

I doubt it was made specifically for the French market. It was probably made in Japan, though. At that time, DIC farmed a lot of their animation out to Tokyo Movie Shinsha. They did many of the better quality TV animation shows in the 80s, such as Gummi Bears, Duck Tales, Inspector Gadget, The Littles, Heathcliff & the Cattilac Cats, Mighty Orbots, ect. I'd have to see the credits to be sure. That would probably account for the show's Japanese feel, though.

Man I'd love to see this show again.

I remember how awesome I thought this show was. I remember how much I wanted a toy to be made for roadie & wheels. I used to draw them a lot!
