The episode with Lana on medication

I know a lot of people enjoyed the episode where Lana is acting out, but I found the performance cringe-worthy and even embarrassing. I understand she's supposed to be hamming it up because the characters is on medication, but it didn't come off as funny, just obnoxious and horribly overacted. I'm not sure if the actress or the director are more to blame for that.
