My personal favorite episodes!

These are in random order from season one:

1. "My Brother's Keeper" (pilot) (It holds up quite well to show how
Crockett & Tubbs first became partners.)

2. "Calederone's Return: Pt. 1-The Hit List"

3. "Calderone's Return: Pt. 2-Calderone's Demise"

4. "The Great McCarthy"

5. "The Glades" (Nice to see Crockett & Tubbs get out of the city for
nearly the entire episode.)

6. "Milk Run"

7. "The Golden Triangle: Pt. 1 (Guest starred the late actor Key Luke in
a memorable role.)

8. "The Golden Triangle: Pt. 2

9. "Smuggler's Blues" (Guest star Glenn Frey really did great.)

10. "Nobody Lives Forever" (Great chemistry between Don Johnson and
guest star Kim Greist.)

11. "Evan" (A very memorable episode with guest star William Russ.
Who also appeared years later in "Nash Bridges.")

Season two:

1. "The Prodigal Son" (Season 2 Premiere)

2. "Out Where The Buses Don't Run" (Imho the best episode of season 2 and
the overall greatest Miami Vice episode
ever produced!)

3. "Junk Love"

4. "Tale of the Goat" (Many critics and viewers alike have criticized this
one because of the voodoo storyline. And many have
even called it one of the worst episodes. Though I
disagree as it was a change of pace plot and seeing
Tubbs at the bottom of an empty pool all medicated
and in need of rescue made this one of my favorites!)
Guest star Clarence Williams III best known as
Link in the ABC-TV series "The Mod Squad."

5. "Bushido"

6. "Bought and Paid For" (Strong performances by guest stars Lynn Whitfield
and Joaquim de Almeida.)

7. "Definitely Miami" (Aside of "Out Where The Buses Don't Run," this one
remains another personal favorite of mine. Especially
with guest star Ted Nugent as a drug dealer.)

8. "Little Miss Dangerous"

9. "Florence Italy" (This one guest starred Danny Sullivan who had won the
1985 Indy 500 auto race.)

10. "French Twist"

11. "Payback" (Guest starred the late Frank Zappa as a big time dealer.)

12. "Free Verse" (The season 2 finale which marked the appearance of
Calderone's son Orlando Calderone.)

13. "Sons & Lovers" (Angelina who is the daughter of mobster boss Calderone
informs Ricardo Tubbs that he's the father of her
child. Which sets in motion a very interesting chain
of events for Crockett & Tubbs.)

No "Sons and Lovers" in season 2? I know a lot of people like "Prodigal Son" and "Out Where the Buses Don't Run", but "Sons and Lovers" might be the best episode of season 2 IMO.

Hey Fluke Skywalker,

Thank you for refreshing my memory of that very excellent episode.
Yes "Sons & Lovers" is now added to my list of my favorite ones
from the second season. And the ending with the bouquet of flowers
being delivered to Ricardo Tubbs was just eerily perfect too!
Miami Vice is airing currently on the El Rey network though do
not get the channel with my Direct TV package. Unless I were to
upgrade to a higher number of channels.

And it's paired with yet another great MV use of a Phil Collins song. I don't have much use for Collins in general, but when he's paired with Vice it's epic... well, "Phil the Shill" aside.

I really need to catch up (again) on my "Miami Vice" since I haven't got to watch it very often lately. My personal favorite set of MV episodes is the group in which Crockett got amnesia and turned on his partner.

reply

That story line you've mentioned was in episode 22, season 4 cliffhanger.
Called Mirror Image where Crockett suffered amnesia and believed he was
his alter ego Sonny Burnett. It continued on in the season 5 opener
Hostile Takeover and then the next one Redemption In Blood. Very
powerful acting from Don Johnson in the plot!

Thanks for the information! 

You're very welcome for the information. Oh and do not recall if
I had mentioned that season 5 is my least favorite because of

1. The overall show's budget was reduced which resulted in weak
writing of the episodes.

2. Don Johnson's acting seemed lackadaisical and even forced
plus there were some media reports that the actor had went
on long drinking binges which effected his acting.

3. Both Johnson & Philip Michael Thomas just didn't seem so
into their characters any longer. They just wanted to end
the series.

I probably wouldn't even be interested in Miami Vice today if it wasn't for those Season 5 episodes with Sonny. I remember seeing one of those episodes when the show was still on the network, and that was what hooked me. And then I started checking out the rest of the series, but it was seeing that one episode that hooked me. 
