Iconic martial arts film director ROBERT CLOUSE directed this...

Robert Clouse (from ENTER THE DRAGON fame) was one of the directors of this series.
In fact, in 1984 he directed the episode "Max" (probably the best of this entire short lived series).
Clouse, who was specialized in martial arts films (among other titles, he also directed BLACK BELT JONES, GOLDEN NEEDLES, THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR, THE AMSTERDAM KILL, GAME OF DEATH, BATTLE CREEK BRAWL, FORCE:FIVE, GYMKATA, CHINA O'BRIEN 1 and 2, IRONHEART..) was the man who brought Hong Kong into Hollywood (he was the first western film director to work/experiment on this genre) and took action / adventure to a different level.
It doesn't surprise me to see his name here.
I believe it was some sort of "historical homage" to the man who directed the greatest martial arts film ever made.
