Nerdy show. Only Jane Curtin made it funny

I didn't care about the kids; notice how the two girls even started to speak like one another as time went on. Susan St James is not funny to me and she couldn't hold her own with Curtin,especially in the sitcom fantasy episode recreating Lucy/Ethel,etc. I know it's supposed to be 'sophsticated' and all that, but it needs to be funny.
