In the first episode, it's clear that the two families have already moved in together, and that it didn't just happen. We don't see Kate, Jennie, and Chip moving in during the first episode. When did the two families move in together? How long had they been living together when the series started? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Im watching the box set now. In an early Season One ep Allie says she feels like she doesnt 'live tehre' and that its "kates house" cuz so much of her stuff is still in storage, So Kate tells her to get her things and bring them in.
Which would imply to me they hadnt lived together very long when the show started
Im a little confused about where they live. They ahve the neighbor Roger who has access to their laundry room. Are they in an apartment???? Cuz from the inside it looks like theyre in a house.

Thanks for answering my question. I thought I'd return the favor. My guess is that it's a two floor apartment (think a lower cost version of Castle's apartment on "Castle," if you watch that show). It look likes a house, but I've read articles about the show, and the articles always call it an apartment, never a house.

I just watched the Season two episode where Kate and Allie have t pretend to be lesbians so they can live in the apartment as one family, not two...which would have made them have to pay more rent. In that episode they say theyve been living together three months.
So, I guess that means when the show started Allie had lived there between one month and two.
