Rape Issue

I had read somewhere that Dee Dee got raped on the show, and that the porducers wanted it to happen again to her character (since the ratings were so good), but Stephanie Kramer refused. Has anyone else heard about that?

I remember the episode. I would not be surprised if they wanted to do it again for ratings... Hollywood is sleazy to say the least.

Yeah they did want her to be raped again but Stepfanie Kramer said no to it. She said it made her character look foolish and that it wasn't something that would look good. I agree with her! I miss this show.

Oh man, that post has taken on such bizarre new meanings now, even though the poster must not have intended it to, that I don't even know what to say.

Indeed, I originally made the post with Lisa Whelchel, but I replaced her with Bill Cosby because I felt he could provide more leverage, on the grounds that The Cosby Show had higher ratings than The Facts of Life.

I also have heard that the producers pushed for this.. I don't know that it would have made her character look stupid, but why go down that highway again? I agree with the fact that Stephanie did not want to do it.

Actually if I remember correctly I believe she was raped twice. Then they wanted to do it a THIRD time and she put her foot down.

Actually...it was only twice, it was in one of the three-part episodes and she was very nearly raped but it never actually happend.

No, She was only raped once. It was in the season 2 2-parter titled "Rape And Revenge". In the season 4 3-parter "City Of Passion", the original storyline called for her to be raped a second time. Stepfanie firmly refused and a battle ensued between she and the producers of the show. It actually got to the point where the stusio issued a statement saying they were looking for another actress to replace her. But she stood her ground and the storyline was altered so she only endured an attack instead of a second rape.

Yes she did. And they wanted to do it again. But Kramer stood her ground. There is a video on you tube that it explains why.
