Was this a Jeffersons spinoff?

It was not a spinoff. I guess the network just thought it could get a few Jeffersons fans to watch the premiere by shoehorning him into it. He is the Uncle of one of the characters, Nurse Julie.

It was kind of a crossover that showed George Jefferson visit Chicago to get a watcfrom Julie that her father had left him after he died. It turns out George Jefferson gets shot in the ER! But everything turns out fine in the end. Love that pilot episode!
