When Oh When ...

... will Showtime get of its lazy fat duff and put this series out on DVD. I remember watching this in college with guys on my dorm floor, and believe it or not, this randy band of macho homophobic cretins loved it.

In many ways, this show served as a "coming out" of our attitudes, as this was the mid-80s (when AIDS was still blamed on homosexuals), we lived in the Midwest (not too far from the nefarious Fred Phelps), and up to that point we thought (a) homesexuality was a choice, and (b) all homosexuals acted like Donald on the show.

Brothers went where other shows feared to tread, and in light of all the subsequent entertainment that has puported to reinvent the gay perspective, it is a shame that Brothers, the first and most daring of the bunch, is unavailable for generations today. My teenage kids, who love Will & Grace et. al. and Ellen, would certainly enjoy this show ... if only I could share it with them.

I completely agree with you!
It sounds like the show struck an important cord with you. I salute you for being the obviously enlightened and open minded person you are, especially at that young an age.

I think it is great that you are teaching your family love and acceptance.
Many more families would be wise to follow your lead.
