Scary Wolf

I remember seeing this on TV in the mid-80s (I was about 6) and being completely freaked out by the close up of the scary wolf they showed over the end titles. That is my ever remaining memory of this series, that and the very christmassy feel of the whole thing (and I think there was a scene of man moving his finger through the flame of a lit candle). I wouldn't mind seeing it again sometime. I'm not sure if it's something the BBC would ever repeat, so maybe I'll have to get the DVD.

Last year they repeated it on the CBBC channel. The finger/candle thing was Abner Brown lighting a match and waving his finger through the flame. My whole family is obsessed with the series. The wolf is very scary. There's a few bits where the boy has dreams about lambs and wolves which continue to scare me even in adulthood!

Rent it or hunt it down. It's brilliant. You should watch it with an excellent lover on Christmas Eve, while sipping hot Red Kola before going to Midnight Mass at the local Cathedral while the snow is falling from the sky like beautiful sherbet sweeties that you used to get from the ice-cream van for 10p.
