US/Canada Release

There is a version avaliable on VHS for The Box Of Delights in Canada... now don't get too excited. I rented it from my local library and it was abridged, cut and editied. The VHS version was about 90 min long and the ACTUAL series itself was a 6 part series (each about 1/2 an hour) The UK DVD version is 163 minutes. I just might get desperate enough to buy it from the UK, but I will only be able to play it on my computer (hopefully) I remember watching this as a little kid during Christmas and it took me forever to find the title of it, and I have been searching for years in hope they will come out with a Region 1 version of this movie... (there is a lot of UK titles that I wish were avaliable on Region 1, but oh well...)

Yeah I live in Canada too and the Box of Delights VHS video available in stores is edited for some reason. However, what is good is that I still have a full copy of the Box of Delights that I recorded off TVOntario when it used to play the show at Christmas in the 1980's - it's in 3 parts of 60 minutes each.

I saw the edited version under PBS Wonderworks label on sale in U.S. years back.
However I did not want the rich and full story to be so hacked and slashed.
Truly it is incoherent.

How is it possible that this CLASSIC, this GEM is now unavailable here in U.S. and the Region 2, English edition, now is no longer manufactured.

I repeat a question I ask from time to time:
Why is it that TRASH is so long-lived and so readily available while the really exquisite films are left in limbo or gone altogether?

Good Lord can't ANY of these be saved?

Censorship is unhealthy for a society's arts, literature, and life.
