My film cast

Okay, it really doesn't matter who I think is right for the role. No director is going to consult the message boards to get his/her cast. But just for the hell of it:

Cole Hawlings: Tom Courtenay
Abner Brown: Jeremy Irons/Hugo Weaving/Jason Issacs
Sylvia Daisy Pouncer: Miranda Richardson
Fat Joe: Nick Frost
Carolina Louisa: Kate Isitt

Yes, Miranda Richardson is made for the role of Pouncer

I like your list, 'mbphilly' and agreed, who else other than MR could perfect that hideous screechy style of evil :o)

I hope they don't try to "trendify it up" too much.

Please pick people for the quality of their performance and accuracy of casting, not just the 'latest thing'...

I'd like to see someone a little 'weaslier'' personally.

David Mitchell or someone like him.

Before Ben Cumberbatch did Sherlock, I'd have suggested him, but prob too identifiable now.

Needs to be someone with pointy features IMHO.

To contrast with Chubby-faced Joe :-)

Yes, CH weighty enough to play AB. Got to be someone dark, and I don't just mean hair!

There's a little-known [though regularly working] actor called Ronan Vibert. He does dark and sinister and manipulative extremely well. Though I suspect they'll go for a bigger name - Rickman probably...

Can't wait 'til December comes for me to watch my annual Delights!

I have a friend, Bryan Pilkington who'd made the best Chubby-faced Joe I can think of.

May suggest he gets himself seen!

Considering Mike Newell casted Goblet of Fire which MR was in so she could be in with a shout. Although she might be too similar to the way she played Rita Skeeter

I cannot believe nobody has said Alan Rickman yet for Abner Brown. Hell Rickman's Snape is clearly reminiscent of the portrayal in the TV Series. I would give the role of Cole to John hurt who has that similar raspy tone to that of Troughton and is an awesome actor. David Tennant could be a decent foxy or perhaps David Thewlis?

Herne the Hunter is a tough one, someone tall with a deep English voice makes sense. Only Clive Owen springs to mind but I don't rate him.

Miranda Richardson is spot on for Sylvia though and literally any reasonable English Actress could play Carolina as she isn't that important of a character.

No please not McKellan that would be like using Michael Gambon they are too identifiable with HP or LOTR. Hmm like Rickman but again might be compared to Snape. As long as it's not the kid from Outnumbered for Kay I don't mind.

Toby Stevens for Abner
