BIG DEAL

Having Robbie Box and his Mother Vi Box turn up in EastEnders has renewed my interest in seeing Big Deal again,i loved the series, my girlfriend at the time was in the Bucks Fizz fan club (i know,i know, stop laughing!) and we met Bobby Gee (who sung the theme tune to the Series) backstage at one of their concerts, and at the time my best mate was a really heavy gambler and the series helped me understand what he was going through, i was just about to purchase a pirate Big Deal DvD off ebay but reading the posts on here read it was poor quality,so i will have to join the "release it on dvd" to the bbc campaign :-) i can't understand with so many channels why Sky doesn't repeat it on UK Gold or something, maybe the 'gambling' sends out the wrong message but as others pointed out, the series clearly showed that he had more failures than success stories and was great entertainment, i've lost count of the times the Sweeney, Minder, etc,etc have been repeated, great shows that they were, it amazes me that a gem like this hasn't seen the light of day since it was shown in the mid 80's, hopefully the bbc will see the error of their ways and do the decent thing :-)

BIG DEAL

"You drink too much, you smoke too much and you always go gunning for one man!" Bobby Gubby (never 'Gee' to us), a world of synth, cards in the gutter ... and our dad reckoned the whole thing was more affecting than Kramer vs Kramer (which followed it one night on BBC1, we remember). Alas no "Ah well, big deal" from the Gubster at the end.
