Question about the quality of each Airwolf series

Which one do you think is the best, series 1-4, from an entertainment perspective?

Pizza? Thin or thick? Chicago.

reply

Season 1 is by far the best. Seasons 2 and 3 have some entertaining episodes, but lack the overall quality of season 1.

Is it true that series 1 was a lot slower than 2 and 3?

If by slower you mean being more story and character based, then yes I guess so.
Season 1 episodes had a lot more depth and meaning than most episodes in season 2 and 3. That's what made the air combat sequences in season 1 all the more enjoyable.

Thanks for replying.

I actually got season 1 on DVD recently and having grown up on Airwolf, the episodes were a lot slower than I remembered. I guess I was watching the later seasons when I was a kid. I still think season one was great. Lots of characterisation and story. The episode where Don wants to do a dangerous stunt for a Hollywood movie and Stringfellow jumps in is my favorite episode of Airwolf.

I also was surprised at how dark the pilot episode was. Holy crap.

Season 1 is just... SO good. Not even a contest. It's some of the best spy fiction I've ever seen on TV. Why they tried to lighten the load, I'll never know. The main reason Airwolf isn't higher on my list of favorite shows is that it got progressively less good after that (the opposite of most TV shows which have a rocky first season and eventually find their footing).

That man is playing Galaga! Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did.
