What made Airwolf(the chopper) so cool...

* the pressure-sensitive seats that would automatically turn on the cockpit controls
* Learning flight/combat computer
* Silent hover/flight mode
* Radar/Radio Jammer
* Helmet Targeting
* start button instead of ignition
* sunbursts
* Mach-1 capability(the turbos)
* stealth capabilities
* the ADF pod
* armored air frame
* the infrared scanners and radar system
* capable of stratospheric altitude
* in-air refueling capable
* VR-simulator hook in

sure the chopper is dated-looking, but if you think about the engineering marvel that it was(on-screen) pretty f-en fantastic and futuristic.

If I were to do a new Airwolf, it wouldn't have rotors, but be something based on the F-117 but with VTOL capability.

Really? It looks more futuristic than anything around today.

Did you engage hostiles? I *vaporized* hostiles.

A Bell 222 is futuristic looking today? A new Airwolf concept based around a F-117A would be interesting.

reply

Airwolf itself is still the best looking chopper ever imo, and it looks more futuristic than say the new Eurocopters they have around now for example. The 222 was way ahead of its time.

Honestly I feel choppers are a dead-end aviationally speaking. Quad-copter drones are interesting.

reply

Those bad ass helmets and the wolf howl when it flew past!

reply

Blue Thunder was way cooler. It had more gadgets.
Airwolf just had speed and firepower

reply

Yeah. Gadgets are ‘way more important in a firefight than speed and firepower.

What are you? 11?

“‘Way” is an abbreviation of “away,” hence the apostrophe. Yes, I am having fun at your expense.
