Following a rather heated discussion in the office the other day( not much work on !) we came to the conclusion that KITT would come out on top in a duel with Airwolf. Any replies to back this up or discredit it are welcomed. Thanks

Seriously, KITT (And The 'Hoff') would be a stain on the road within seconds IMO. I don't know if KITT's laser (He has a laser, right?) can shoot at a 90 degree angle, so there's really no way he could fight back.
Airwolf and it's vast compliment of misssles, on the other hand, have no problem shooting downward.
Now, Hoff's Member's only jacket VS Airwolf... THAT'S another matter!

I cannot imagine how this conversation could ever get heated, it's such a no-brainer. Airwolf is the superior weapon, JMV is the superior action hero. I always considered THE HOFF a bit of a baffoon. The car with the uptight VOICE was just...grating.

Yeah, I agree; Airwolf is intended to be a military weapon. KITT is intended to be more like a law enforcement support vehicle. A better face-off would be Airwolf vs. the helicopter from Blue Thunder.

Not just because Airwole is faster, more manuverable and has a full payload of missiles to fire at Mr Hawk's discretion, but because I never really liked Knightrider when I was a kid. I used to love Airwolf though. Now, what would be a question is Airwolf vs a flying HK from the Terminator, or R2-D2 vs C3P0.

(Besides, neither the Russians, the East Germans, the Cubans, the Drug Dealers nor any other "Villain of the Week" have been able to take down Airwolf with a simple shoulder-mounted rcket while hiding in the bushes.... please, I thought you watched this show!)
so remove the drivers...what do you get? a car that can operate itself, and a high tech helicopter armed to the teeth that isnt going anywhere. No drivers and airwolf is a sitting duck. Michael Knight and Kitt are a team just like Airwolf and its crew.

Airwolf would defeat KITT
Remember in Star trek 2: The Wrath of Khan when Dr. Mccoy points out despite Khan's superior genes and brainpower and everything, all his military strategy is 2-dimensional.
KITT, being only a ground vehicle, is stuck witht he same limitations. he can only calculate combat strategies along the X,Y axis.
Airwolf, on the other hand, is an air-to-ground combat vehicle able to fight in the X, Y, and Z axis.
This gives Airwolf more maneuverability and speed. Able to duck & dodge, bob & weave to miss any assault from KITT. the car, however, can only go left, right, forward and reverse to avoid a 180-degree assault from from the air.
Besides, Airwolf (which is piloted by a human being) has much more firepower than KITT, which can pilot itself but was programmed NOT to take a human life.
The only known "weapon" on KITT is a cutting laser and perhaps the micro-jammer (which is basically an EMP -- electro magentic pulse. Suffice it to say that Airwolf is sheilded against EMPs, being that it is state-of-the-art technology more advanced than anything else anyone has. Hence, why the CIA hasn't been able to find her on its own)
As for KITT's molecular bonded shell, that has proven defensible against standard weapons and fire, but it has only been tested against military weapons such as distant (repeat, DISTANT) cannon fire and machine gun fire.
A close-order sustained bombardment of Stinger missiles, Hellfire missiles, nuclear-tipped Falcon missiles and 40mm Vulcan mini-guns could at the very least disable the car, rendering it useless.
KITT did go through an armored car course underfire once and an army missile range and did successfully defend against military hardware in both situations, they actually said that they were useing military hardware during the demo of the limo that was being tested at the same time KITT went through the course, and he was able to withstand close encounters with mines throughout the course of the show.
shareAirwolf is much more advanced. It has the definite air to ground advantage as well. It would be an interesting match up none the less.

KITT might be able to dodge some of the missles ,but the only chance it'd have of surviving is if Airwolf got down too low then KITT might be able to turbo boost right through the thing, and KITT's laser( in season 4 Air wolf has one too) is pretty much useless unless it's a ground target. The only probable chance is KITT using it's microjammer to bring it down( it's brought down choppers in the past) But with Airwolf shielded from electrical interference( esspecially E.M.P.'s that radiated from a nuke in an episode in season 2) I doubt KITTs micro jammer would work. Add to the fact that Though never used in the show, Airwolf was also equipped with “nuclear-tipped Shrike missiles”. The button that fires these missiles is near the button that turns on the signal decoder (used to communicate with Archangel). So yeah KITT would pretty much be dead in the water, with Airwolf the victor.
As far as HasellHoff V.S. J.M.V. Considering what poor shape Jan is in now Hoff it'd probably win a fist fight with him today.
Only if KITT's boost could take it up to 80,000 feet. KITT could manage what 10 feet off the ground?

I would have to go with Airwolf because like everyone else has covered Airwolf could move away from KITT where as KITT could move only on the ground or Michael could use Turbo to avoid from getting hit. Like someone said if Airwolf was too low to the ground then KITT could jump right through the lady. Then in the first season there was a laser attached to KITT to destroy KARR the evil twin to KITT. So I would say Airwolf could destroy KITT. Where in the world did you get Chuck Norris would win from Spider-Lou-2?
