Or is the canned laughter completely unnecesarry? And BAD. Totally obvious that it's not a live audience.

I saw a wino the other day eating some grapes. I was like 'Dude, you have to wait.'

Yeah, it's pretty bad. Apparently it was added in later for the syndicated episodes and not part of the original broadcast versions.

I just watched this for the first time. In explaining it to people, I've stated, "it has the most inappropriate laugh track I've ever heard."

Sometimes the track will play when there is seemingly no joke. Other times it comes in late, well after the joke.
