Amazing performance by Isabelle Adjani

One Deadly Summer has to be one of Isabelle Adjani's greatest performances, in a career filled with them. She shines as the beautiful but disturbed avenger who sets the small town ablaze with lust and speculation. It's a great role because she gets to be obnoxious, slutty, vulnerable, mysterious, and all the while cooking up her elaborate revenge scheme. Adjani plays it with her typical raw intensity and power.

I would highly recommend anyone who loved Isabelle's great work in films like The Story of Adele H, Possession or Camille Claudel to check out this lesser-known gem, or vice versa.

She was born for that role.

It's a pity this film isn't better known. It, and this lady, is a stunner.

I saw this in France when it first came out and i could only understand every 5th word, but i still loved it and would love to see it again now( that I'll understand at least 3 out of 4 words).
And I looked EVERYWHERE for a similar white lace bikini!

I agree totally, a great film, fantastic performance. She really was convincing in all her moods.

What a tragic ending. I love the point where she find out that vengeance didn't make her feel better... how true. And you imagine though how worse she'll feel when she finds out that her plot was carried out on innocent people.
