Zelig - Boardwalk Empire

This must be one of the most underrated films of all time. Done without cgi and yet at times almost impossible to tell what is and what isn't authentic footage.

And the music is superb and fits flawlessly with the feel and atmosphere of the times back then and how a mucku-mentary might have sounded.

Don't know if anyone noticed, but both Zelig and Boardwalk Empire are two of the only films I can think of that used only authentic period music, and nothing new. That, along with the stories and acting and attention to period detail, are what makes both so outstanding. Totally different genres perhaps, but still similar in approach to the period the story takes place. Make it as authentic as possible, not only costumes, cars, buildings, but also and so importantly the music.
