Great Movie

This is by far one of the more original films to have come out of Italy in the early 80's. Since italian horror cinema was basically taken over by zombie films at this time, this was truly an original film. Anyone else share that same thought?

It is quite atypical for Italian zombie films of the period, so it gets points for that. Also for the impressive sense of dread achieved with very little actual on-screen horror.

But I find the conspiracy plot absurd. This writer stumbles upon this mystery of the K-Zones, and it turns out that all his friends (at least, all the ones we meet in the movie) are in on the conspiracy to prevent him from learning the truth.

I guess you can chalk that up to nightmare/dream logic that's supposed to make the film feel like a bad dream, but I find it slightly absurd (or "vaguely nonsensical," as Jamie Russell wrote in his excellent examination of zombie cinema, BOOK OF THE DEAD).

Yeah, Zeder is a terrific italian horror movie. It's a shame that it's not very well known.

I thought it was pretty lame. But compared to other Italian horror films of the time, it... is still pretty lame.

Well, if you go into the film expecting it to be a zombie gore flick you will be most disappointed. As was I when I first saw it back in the 80's under the title Revenge of the Dead along with its highly misleading cover art (though quite cool looking cover art). It took me years later to watch the film a second time to appreciate the storyline. Although it is week compared to some other films in the genre, I found it to be a fairly interesting to story with a very Pet Semetary like ending (although years before Pet Semetary).

Just finished and thought it was ok
