Did Stephen King..

...completely plagiarize the ideas behind this film? Because it is the exact story, with only a couple differences. Which came first; King's book, or this film? Very effective film incidentally, extremely well-made.

That was my thoughts too, Pet Cemetary seems a little too much like this film.

I did thought of Pet Sematary when i saw this movie

You killed Captain Clown, YOU KILLED CAPTAIN CLOWN-The Joker on Batman TAS

Pet Sematary is more of an expanded retelling of The Monkey's Paw.

Since both King's book and this film came out in 1983, it's hard to say which came first. Could be that this movie stole from King's book. Nobody really knows but the makers.

King claims to have written and shelved "Pet Sematary" a few years, probably 1980, before it was published in 1983, so that makes the similarities even more strange.

The filming for "Zeder" ended in August of 1982 and "Pet Sematary" was published in November of 1983.
