I was recently looking to purchase this film on DVD. After doing a little research/shopping there appears to be some doubt out there whether the 2 iterations of The Year Of Living Dangerously currently available on DVD are actually the original film.

For example on Amazon, there are several user reviews claiming that the DVD versions of the films are actually bastardized from the originals. There are claims that the film has been heavily edited and doesn't even compare to the theatrical original. Can anyone add anything to this?

That was my concern as well. Maybe the old vhs is the only thing that shows the original.
