Amazing soundtrack

A prime example of how a good film can be uplifted into a great film with the help of a dazzling soundtrack.

I have often wondered why this film's soundtrack wasn't nominated for the Academy Award. Of course it should have also been nominated for Best Picture, Director, Actor, and Screenplay.

Maurice Jarre, Vangelis and Richard Strauss. :-)

The soundtrack always put it over the edge for me. I actually own this movie on DVD and watch it at least every few months. I can't find it anywhere now, so hopefully I'll never scratch the disc I have

Yeah, truly mesmerizing soundtrack. The official OST doesn't include the best track though - Vangelis "L'Enfant" which I had to find separately.

This soundtrack is truly growing on me.

I just recently bought the soundtrack on vinyl and it is fantastic.
Especially "Death of a Child" is truly an amazing and beautiful track.

It was also released on CD however the CD is not well mastered in my opinion.
The vinyl sounds much much better and has that clear and full sound.

I also like the Indonesian piece from the beginning of the movie that is present
on the vinly, too. This time however it is in stereo and it sound extremely nice.

I also like the Indonesian song on the soundtrack. The sound quality is EXCELLENT.
It sounds like the singer is standing in the middle of your room.

I do understand why Vangelis' track is missing on the record. It doesn't fit the
entire concept of the album. If you want it, you can find it on many other discs/records.
