Mel Gibson was so freakin' handsome in this!

When I was a teen, I must have worn out my aunt's VHS copy of this back in 1984. I watched this (and Tootsie) over and over again during the week I spent with her and my cousin when Mary Lou Retton dominated gymnastics in the summer Olympics. But I cared more about watching this movie than Mary Lou! I thought Gibson was the most beautiful man I'd ever seen in my life.

In addition, this was actually an all around excellent piece of filmmaking and Linda Hunt was stunning as Billy.

Linda Hunt was stunning as Billy and Dustin Hoffman was stunning as Dorothy.
What an interesting movie combo that was!

For some reason this movie popped into my mind the other day. i just knew I'd hear or read about it again soon!

I rented this from a video store and yes, Mel Gibson looked gorgeous in it! I also loved the music in the film.

Yes, beautiful is the word, it’s shocking how he looks now, back then he was Orlando Bloom level pure looking. He’s older than my parents but I’ve always thought that back then he was so otherworldly good looking I wanted to paint him all day long lol
