Etan Patz

This film is based on the missing boy Etan Patz who went missing in 1979 in lower Manhattan while walking to school.

Sadly it did not turn out like the film in the end.

Looks like the Manhattan DA may reopen the case, in part based on recent brutal murder of the Brooklyn Boro 8-year-old boy Leiby Kletzky the past day. I don't have the names handy but supposedly Etan's murderer is in prison in Pennsylvania due out in 2012 on child molestation and recently he confessed to another inmate he murder Etan.

Yes, Etan's case is the first thing I thought about when I saw this movie for the first time tonight. Therefore, I was completely surprised when it had a different ending. The tears sure did roll down my face with that finale.
