Does anyone know who sang the tile song of this show?

It was Ralph McTell, as far as I remember. He's quite a well known folk singer/songwriter.

There were no lyrics to the theme music from the feature film, it was instrumental. Was there a totally new theme tune to the spin-off series that followed the film, or was it based on that instrumental??

Starfish80 - the theme tune to the series was sung to the same tune as the instrumental theme in the feature film, and the lyrics were sung by Ralph McTell. Lovely song, real tear-jerker! But I liked the original instrumental theme as well, so soothing!
