So this is 'punk'?

So, they act like complete *beep* at people who they think are complete *beep* Their behaviour doesn't really solve anything, why would they want to keep up that negative atmosphere and then blame other people for it? If they are the ones who suddenly realise how *beep* things are, it's up to them to come up with a solution, they very well know that the majority is quite blind and have no idea that there is more to life than being a puppet. You don't blame animals for being stupid. It's the same with humans, most humans can't help it, they too are helplessly stupid. It's too easy to live in a group your whole life, since it leads you through school and to work and to have a family and torry about some *beep* mortgage etc etc

It makes me sad that some people find this punk. But then again the meaning of punk has always been very unclear.

It's Just A Movie..

This movie is about a bunch of kids trying to survive in a screwed up environment. It's not supposed to set an example by which everyone else should live. The characters are not thinking about whether or not their behavior will "solve" anything. Geez.

Just because a bunch of kids fit into a subculture and realize how *beep* up life is, doesn't make them the saviors of mankind.

For one, they're kids. Kids generally have no higher goals in their younger years above lifes simple pleasures.

Also, they do try and make life better, for each other. They came together, and made each other their new family, and said "*beep* you" to the rest of the world that didn't care.

the kids in this movie act the way we punks and skins acted in those days. if anything, being from the west coast they were probably more laid back then "real" kids.

There's a difference. Animals cannot understand human dialog. The thing about most people, is that they don't want to know the truth. "Ignorance is bliss." Have you ever heard that saying before? They don't want to listen to the liberal, left wing, unpatriotic extremists because they spoil all things "happy" in their world. Punk, to me, has always been about progress. Real punks strive for Anarchy because they believe power destroys people and our society. However, Anarchy would have to be something to work towards, not happen overnight. I'm talking about true Anarchy, not that SLC Punk babble bull he's trying to say makes sense. True Anarchy is just the belief that people are capable of taking care of themselves. They don't need a government to tell them what they can or can't say, they don't need an organized religion telling them what to believe. I think the thing with this movie is that they're just trying to portray these kids as just that. Kids. Kids who don't know better. Just plain confused. That's why it ends badly. Just a thought, though.

Those concerned citizen type guys, tea party types, were more annoying than the punk runaways. In fact, that cop probably had the best line in the movie, when he replied to the guy saying he belongs to "Citizens Against Crime" by saying, "Yeah, most citizens are against crime". haha

What a judgmental cock you are.

Well... not all of us have been raised with a silver spoon in our mouths. You can't relate cos you lived on the other side of the tracks, up there with the hob-knobs, poseurs and do-gooders.. It's not your fault I guess.

Here in my country, there was a time (back in the day), where "punks" loves this movie. I never really liked it. Sexist, TV-dumbheads, that's ain't punk for me at all. But I don't know how it worked for northamericans in the 80's. I was a teenager in the 90's, in a country nobody knows nor cares, trying to get democracy after 17 years of right wing military dictatorship (thanks to Nixon and the CIA), so my "early punk years" were very different. We didn't watch TV (didn't trust them), we were trying to DO stuff, even if it was playing in a band, writing fanzines, whatever. I remember the first "Okupa" here... there was mainly glue-sniffers kids, but then punks started to taking action, they expulse the dangerous rapist and drug dealers, and started to create spaces, where we share cultural stuff, even the screening of this film on vhs...
I remember we used to drink a LOT of beer, we do smoked pot. Some kids used to drink heavy liquor and used other drugs. There is no heroin here in my country. Cocaine is expensive, so when I was very young, it wasn't an every day option.
But we have our ideals, we wanted to do so much stuff!
Now I work as an independent writer for on-line magazines, reviewing concerts from international rock n' roll and indie rock band that plays in my country, but also promoting female punk rock from here. I quit all those jobs that were sucking my soul (call-centers, full time saleswoman at clothing shops), fortunately I have no children. I work freelance as filmmaker advisor (yeah, that's what I decided to study, because I had good grades at the crappy public school I went) and also work under commission as a seamstress, fashion patterns creation and sometimes, I sell my own designs. DIY IS REAL! I don't play the bass guitar any more, but I will do it, as soon as I'll be able to buy me a good bass (my former-fiance exchange my old bass and amp for drugs... nice punk rocker that bastard!)

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.
