They *really* need to release this on DVD.

I hadn't seen this movie in over 15 years, and I saw it the other night.

What a great movie. Why the hell can't they release it on DVD? Is there a dispute over rights, or do they just not think it's worthy?

reply

Maybe they won't, because it's too close to "the truth"? Read the 'Henry Deacon' interview at http://projectcamelot.org/interviews.html

What can you tell us about the ET presence?

Look up the movie Wavelength. It’s based on a totally true story. Have you seen it? It's based on an incident that took place at Hunter Liggett. This is a hot one.

No. Where’s Hunter Liggett?

90 miles south-south-east of Monterey, California. My primary station at the time was Fort Ord.I was working there back in the early 70s, when I was in the military, and I was working under CDCEC, which is Combat Developments Command Experimentation Command. You can go look that up.We were doing testing of all kinds of devices, and we lived out in the field there. We wore laser protection goggles a lot of the time and we had our eyes dialated routinely to check our retinas for burns. Some of the cattle in the fields even wore modified goggles! This was the most bizarre sight you could ever imagine.Well, one day something happened while we were testing. A disk came into the area and it was hovering, it hovered right directly in front of us, out in a field. So [pause] we shot the ****ing thing down.

You shot down a disk?

[shaking head] We should never have done it. It wasn't me personally, but the group did. Between us we had all this gizmo weaponry and I guess they panicked and thought they were in a movie or something. The disk was disabled and it was captured, and so were the occupants, and I saw these very briefly. They were small child-like humanoids, with no hair. And they had small eyes, not large almond-shaped eyes. I don’t think anyone knows about this. As far as I know it’s not on the internet.

reply

Thanks for the transcript stoneglitter. Pretty fascinating. I was convinced something is going on from the time I heard Robert Lazar speak, years ago.

reply

The interview continues:

Most of the other witnesses ended up in Vietnam and many were killed. I may be the only living witness to what happened... I don’t know.

The rest of the story is in a sci-fi movie called Wavelength, which was released in the early '80s. I’d never heard of it until I ran into it years later, in Arizona. Did I just say this? [laughs, for the first time]

When I saw the video, I was expecting some, you know, light entertainment with a beer or two, but I mean, my mouth just hung wide open. The beginning of the film just completely clearly and accurately describes the incident, and the film is very close to the rest of the story, including the use of an abandoned Nike base in Southern California to store them.

Go find it. It’s all basically true. I was just amazed when I saw it. The person who wrote it must have been there, or knew someone who was there. But I don’t know who.

reply

I totally want to see this. I actually think I believe that interview...

reply

I also read about it on the interview printed in nexus magazine... its one of those gems that understandably gets no media attention due to it been right on the money! as truthfull as it gets, reminds me of dean warwick and his stories, all very interesting, dean died on stage recently during a talk on this kind of thing..anyway ive found this movie "wavelength 1983" is available if u know where to look... i think its true too, this info has been heavily suppressed and ridiculed in professional attacks against these people

Project Camelot also interviewed Dan Burisch. It's in three parts. You guys really should check them out if you havent already. Mindblowing stuff. Many in the field of ufology are convinced that this guy is definitely for real.

A DVD release of this fine and shamefully forgotten little gem would be great. I own a beat-up used VHS copy that barely even plays anymore. Anchor Bay would be an ideal choice for putting this one out on DVD with a nice widescreen presentation, the theatrical trailer and a commentary by writer/director Mike Gray.

Yes, I hope so. I just rented The Quiet Earth and tons of Lucio Fulci films - all re-release or put on DVD format by Anchor Bay. I love that company!

You can buy a DVD of Wavelength here.....

I am yet to buy one so can't confirm that it is all OK, but it looks fine. Unofficial VHS to DVD transfer, but apparantly this is legal according to the website.

DVD available; google CVMC and look it up, it's $10.

Someone should contact Anchor Bay or MGM to release this on DVD.

bought it! the soundtrack, that is.
super cool stuff...
sounds like original nintendo music...from Metroid or something.
the best thing about the LP, though, is the jacket!
it's got one of the 'visitors' on it.

I have been on a mission to get the DVD of every movie I loved as a kid and I'm stopped short at a few of them. Basically I will not rest until Wavelength and a few others are released and then I will finally be able to go on with the parts of my life that actually matter.

reply

I want to see this film so badly and wish that they put it out on DVD soon. I'm really considering just buying the VHS even if it's not in OAR just so I can finally see this movie. I too have the oop score and it's great.

reply

The movie does not disappoint. A nice little number.

This title first came to my attention when reading an article that compared it with John Carpenter's Starman (1984). The thrust of the article being that the endings were similar as well as the very remarkable spacecraft that came to take the ET's away in both films.

I notice that the Director of this film, Mike Gray, had a fancy title on the television adaptation/sequel also titled Starman (1986).

Now, here is my conspiracy theory: I wondered if Mr. Gray was going to take legal action against Mr. Carpenter because the stories had some similarities and perhaps given the positions of "developer" and writer on the Starman TV show as a settlement with the proviso that Wavelength not be re-released. AGAIN: THIS IS JUST MY THEORY.

Wavelength has its fans -- many fans, apparently -- and I cannot think of any reason why it wouldn't be on some form of disc for home use. Unless somebody kicked up a fuss about the three nekkid youngsters playing the roles of the visitors.

I have a VHS copy that may negate the above theory.

Anyway, I'm glad I was able to get a hold of that copy. A little movie that has what it takes to sweep the viewer away to a nice place.

"The alien terror IS here on earth!"

reply

interesting theory!!

reply

Food for thought. It is a bit strange that this title with so many admirers hasn't re-surfaced after so many years.

Who can I write to that can look into the matter? Let's see.. somebody interested in making a few bucks....

(by the way, a few are available on VHS on AMAZON)

reply

on amazon? rock on!

reply

If you haven't seen it -- don't expect anything and you'll be pleasantly surprised, I'm sure.

Please let me know what you think of it if and when you get to see it.

reply

will do!

Thanks, Studman. It is worth hunting for and sharing with friends. My wife -- not a big flying saucer fan -- even liked it.

And the music by Tangerine Dream is exceptional. I also have the soundtrack on vinyl and if I have a complaint against it, it is only that the overall length is short. Nevertheless, I enjoy it very much. If you should find it at a thrift store, yard sale or e-Bay and you can buy it cheaply enough, pick it up (in any format). Give it a listen and you'll find, I believe, that it stands on its own apart from the film very well.

I hope you find a copy of the movie.

I just looked and -- there are two VHS tapes on e-Bay on auction. One is with a starting bid of $4.95 and the other at $14.95 SEARCH "Wavelength" -- Catagory: DVD's and Movies.

And if you are interested there are also few soundtrack recordings on vinyl. They go for as high as 50 bucks but right now there is one going for $10!

June 29, 2009 12:30 PM I do not know the playing condition or the shipping cost, make sure to look into that. SEARCH "Wavelength" -- Catagory: Music, Sub-catagory: Records
