This was great

Having tried a bit of hacking back in the day, I've always loved the subject, so this was a real treat.

This was highly entertaining and the classic man vs machine is again on display here.

Everyone did a fine job on this.

It's a really great, underrated film, which depicts hacking in a pretty accurate way, at least for the time. It also managed to have great stakes that felt very real. It touched on Cold War fears, but mixed them with the stress of being a kid while going through it. There's that great scene where David starts freaking out about all the life he wanted to have and will now never have - where he says he can't swim because he always thought there would be time. That scene takes all the "big" fear and danger and personalizes it so you feel the fears and the threat on an individual level. That's great.

Little moments really augment a movie, too, and this one is full of them. "Seattle!" cries Jennifer during her and David's bomb targeting in the "game". Or when Falken and David are both at their *peak* trying to outsmart Joshua.

I agree, this movie came out the day I graduated High School. I remember seeing this and Blue Thunder within a week of each other. Wargames and Blue Thunder even had the same director. Two months later I was in military basic training. We got a weekend pass and I saw this again at the base theater. Since I was then in the Air Force this movie had so much more meaning. A few months later I was actually doing the exact same job as the Airman who says "we're all still here" at the end of this movie lol.

couple years back, they did a one night theater showing and it was PACKED, like, every single seat filled in a large theater! young and old people there, everyone chatting about the fun film.... they should replay more GOOD old movies instead of mounds of yawner sequels

Joshua called me. What? This is some set up. No, what did you say before that. Joshua called me. David, computers dont call people. Yours did. Now who were you going to Paris with?
