Holds up surpriseingly well

This movie is STILL a nail-biter today, in spite of the 40 year old setting and equipment.

I can rewatch it over and over. Takes me right back to 1983. Ah, the eighties.... miss 'em so much.

It's dated as hell but I agree it is still a nail biter. One of my favorites.

It's not "dated", unless you mean why his ancient PC doesn't have Windows 10 or anything like that, but this takes place at the height of the Cold War and the emerging home computer industry, and combines the two perfectly.

it is an 80s movie and it looks and feels like an 80s movie. Everything about it is dated bro.

reply

Although technically you're right using the word dated. The problem with using that word though, is the negative connotation the phrase brings. To some people dated suggests that it is bad.

It's a time capsule back to the 80's, more specifically, the world of 1983. The gadgetry is dated, but the storytelling of the film is not, and it still works, and as the OP says, holds up surprisingly well.

Fair enough.

I always liked it. It's very dated and the technology is archaic but it still works.

I’m an 80’s kid and I saw War Games again recently and still love it. I was actually very frightened of nuclear war as a child and it was in part due to movies like this. I did a little reading on War Games after not seeing it for such a long time and John Lennon was approached about playing the part of the professor!

greetings to a fellow 80s kid!!!
