Cronenberg is a hack. His sole objective in film-making is to shock rather than to create an actual, visceral film. I guess he can't do anything that takes genuine thought, so instead he just tries to be gross and disturbing.

Perhaps this movie is about " The media is the message " ala Marshal McKuen, hoping the spelling is close. So as we we see violence in the various media outlets, we desensitize to that which we experience thru the media. We see it on the tube, in the movies, in the music, in vidio games, in sports. Yes we are all influenced to an extent to which only we know.

i think that danish guy sucks, enjoys being the depressive drama queen,

this is pure art.
his disturbing scenes were made with taste and he knows how much to show and when to stop before it's too much and silly.
