Brian O'Blivion's last tape

Bianca O'Blivion sent me this:

Let us imagine television thirty years from now. It is the year 2013.

We must redefine what we mean by 'television'. Civic TV called itself 'The one you take to bed with you'. Now you take television everywhere.

It is no longer the clumsy cathode ray tube in the corner of your living room or bedroom. It is a sleek mobile device that caters to your every need for communication, information, amusement and self-expression. It is your parent, your child, your sibling, your friend, your lover. They now barely exist except through it.

Once my Cathode Ray Mission gave the homeless TV to help them connect with the world. Now in any public space you see people engaging, not with the people in front of them, but those on their devices. Who can say this connection is not more profound than one of flesh and blood? Indeed, it will not be long before this connection is literally built into our bodies. Every one of us will become a broadcaster.

Long live the new flesh
